Air conditioning energy saving tips
(easiest first)

1. Set your air conditioner to 24C (the perfect indoor temperature). Setting it lower will cause excessive energy consumption and high electrical bills.
2. Set your air conditioner’s fan speed to low. It will remove moisture better, making the air feel dryer and cooler.
3. Benefit from the timer function. For example: set the air conditioner in your bedroom to shut off at five in the morning. The room will stay cool until the time you get up.
4. Combine air conditioning with a KDK fan. A KDK ceiling fan uses only 5% of the power that a 12.000 BTU air conditioner uses, and provides a much better circulation of the cooled air.
5. Seal the room. It’s easy to close up gaps with kit or weather strips, and it will instantly save you money.
6. Put magnetic contacts on your windows and doors and/or install a presence detector. This will ensure that the air conditioner can only be on when somebody is there, and when windows and doors are firmly closed.
7. Isolate ceilings, walls and floors for huge savings.
8. When building, ask your architect for a climate-conscious design. You’ll only need minimal air conditioning if your home or business is properly designed, isolated and ventilated; if it’s constructed with the wind in mind; and if the roof construction prevents walls and rooms from being heated by the sun.
